Queen life at Chunda Palace, Udaipur

A long-awaited trip to Udaipur finally was planned and we were ready to go by train. But there has to be an adventure with Dhanukas in any tour. This time it happened at the start of the tour only.

The departure time of the train was at 7.30 pm, but due to some misunderstanding by Kavita didi, she thought, it was 8.30 pm. So obviously, we missed our train. All the bookings for the next 3 days in Udaipur were done. There was a lot of tension. Kids were getting impatient, especially my younger one. Then an idea of going by bus came up, and we luckily got 8 tickets for the bus at 1 a.m. Thus started our wonderful journey.

We reached our stay, the royal Chunda Palace, the next morning. Wow was our first expression. What a beautiful property! Royal touch in each n every corner, Rajasthani painting carved on the walls, silver-plated carved doors n jharokhas. The room was equally royal with a jharokha style window seat and jacuzzi style tub in the bathroom.

Night view of poolside, Chudna Palace

The best part of the palace, the one for which the kids were most excited, was the rooftop, infinity swimming pool. It was so much fun splashing and making boomerangs and reels in the pool, with the fun family group.

Khamma Ghani Restaurant

Now was the time to explore the city of lakes and palaces, the white city, Udaipur. We started with lunch at the Khamma Ghani restaurant. They had comfortable Rajasthani sitting beside the lake with a beautiful ambience and more importantly tasty food. Paneer tikka and sizzling browny of theirs were the dishes, no one should miss.

City Palace

City Palace was one that was compulsory in our itinerary, and we headed there after lunch. Maharaja Maharana Pratap Singh’s property, the main attraction o Udaipur, was worth watching. The gigantic palace, with a museum showing the historic royal lifestyle of Maharaja and his Raanis, was mesmerizing.

Ropeway lead us to this place

Next, we went for a ropeway ride to Karni Mata Mandir. By the time we reached the top point in the gondola, it was sunset. The cool breeze blowing, with the whole Pichola lake view, with jag mandir and taj hotel sparkling in between the lake, was worth watching.

Pratap Chowk area of Chunda Palace

The other day started with photography and reels at Chunda Palace and exploring the royal villas of the hotel. The Pratap Chowk area of the palace was perfect for candid camera pictures. It was followed by Saheliyon ki Badi, boat ride, camel ride, soda party and under sun aquarium at Fateh Sagar Lake. The day ended with dinner at, lakeside Panna Vilas palace rooftop restaurant. Classical music and dance, lake view, cool breeze and yummy continental food were perfect to end the tiring day.

Saheliyon ki Badi

The last day before checking out the palace, we again jumped in the pool after the royal breakfast. We then headed to Sajjangarh biological park. Explored the park on a golf cart and saw various animals like leopard, lion, tiger, bear, deers, crocodile, hyena, etc. The final destination was the Sajjangarh monsoon palace. The topmost point of Udaipur, from where the whole Udaipur was looking beautiful. There we got the chance to click photos in the Rajasthani attire. It was wonderful.

Sajjangarh Biological Park

It was time to catch the train back to Ujjain. We were ready before time, as this time we did not want to miss the train. We got our tiffins packed from Natraj hotel in front of the railway station. Thus was our fun-filled trip to Udaipur.

Udaipur is a must place to visit in a lifetime.
