Singapore Day2

I want to go somewhere FAR FAR AWAY!

was what I used to say to my husband. And literally, he picked us from Ujjain and dropped us at FAR FAR AWAY LAND. So we were there in one of the six Universal Studios theme parks around the world, “Universal Studios of Singapore” on our Day2 Singapore tour.

My family is in love with all Universal Studios’ blockbuster movies and spending a day, enjoying the adrenaline-pumping rides, interactive shows and a wide variety of exciting attractions based on those movies was like a feeling of being those characters or enjoying with them.

There were 6 themed Zones in the park. Let me take you on a tour of those zones.

The Lost World: The Dinosaurs world, the one for which I and my son Ishaan were most excited. Posing before the iconic Jurassic Park gate, walking inside the dinosaurs’ theme park and experiencing the rides were so much fun. The Canopy flyer ride was the best of all the rides. While others were riding in the wild ride on the waterways of Jurrasic Park, Viraj and I enjoyed the gentle kids’ Dino-Soarin ride.

Far Far Away: The next amazing zone was based on our favourite Shrek movies. The best experience here was posing with Shrek and Fiona cartoon characters in front of the castle of Far Far Away. Ishaan and our friends also enjoyed the Magic potion spin ride and Puss in boots’ giant journey ride. Toothless and Shrek caps bought from Fairy Godmother’s Potion shop are good souvenirs to keep with us. Dreamworks Animation’s theme park was cool to roam around.

Ancient Egypt: If you want to see 1920s Egypt and explore ancient obelisks, and the riddles of the Sphinx and experience curse-ridden rides, this is the place for you. The Revenge of the Mummy ride was the scariest ride of my life. This indoor roller coaster ride takes you in total darkness. You get plagued on all sides by huge fireballs, swarms of scarab beetles, and an army of warrior mummies, all appearing from the darkness out of nowhere. Bumping up and down, back and front, sideways and that too in total darkness leaves you all nauseating and scared. Next was the Treasure hunt ride, which was very slow and boring. Wasted one hour waiting for this stupid ride.

Sci-Fi City: This city of Transformers was for my husband and son. They enjoyed the ultimate 3D battle ride here. Posing with the giant talking and moving transformer for them was the best experience.

New York: A nice cool walk on the New York-like streets was fun. We clicked very good photographs here. Also met with the Sesame Street characters here.

Hollywood: This is another Hollywood-themed street to stroll around and take pictures. You can meet our favourite cute minions from the Despicable Me movie here dancing and entertaining the audience.

Before entering the park, there was this candy shop, “Candilicious” for all the candy lovers.

Such was a fun-filled day at Universal Studios. Do not miss this place if u go to Singapore.

Tips:

  • Take an express pass, as there are long queues for all the rides.
  • Avoid going on weekends, as there is a lot of rush these days.
  • Don’t go for the treasure hunt ride, it’s very slow and boring.
  • Only go on the Revenge of the Mummy ride if you are strong-hearted and do not have migraine-like sensations after going on a ride. It can be dangerous for them.
  • Have look at a map or Universal studios site before going, so that you can plan your day accordingly. Otherwise, time will be wasted on bad rides, and no time will be left for your favourite ones.
  • At the end of the day, the waiting for rides becomes less, so prefer that time for rides.
  • Also, note down the time slots for taking pictures with the characters, or else you will miss them.
  • Rent a cart for kids. It would be less tiring for them and you as well.
